On Wanting Something...
you gave it your best shot... and now you must wait.
it's agonizing.
you have no control.
what if? should have... stop right there.
you've played your cards.
it's over. just breathe and wait.

The Complete Guide to Not Giving a Fuck

Ok, I have a confession to make.
I have spent almost my whole life– 31 years– caring far too much about offending people, worrying if I’m cool enough for them, or asking myself if they are judging me.
I can’t take it anymore. It’s stupid, and it’s not good for my well being. It has made me a punching bag– a flighty, nervous wuss. But worse than that, it has made me someone who doesn’t take a stand for anything. It has made me someone who stood in the middle, far too often, and not where I cared to stand, for fear of alienating others. No more. Not today.

The 27 Rules of Conquering the Gym

This is the time of year when even people who hate the gym think about going to the gym. Many of us are still digesting whole floors of gingerbread houses, and jeans that fit comfortably in October are now a denim humiliation.

Hablas Ingles?

If you can pronounce correctly every word in this poem, you will be speaking English better than 90% of the native English speakers in the world.
After trying the verses, a Frenchman said he’d prefer six months of hard labour to reading six lines aloud.

If I Had More Time... (part 2)
A few months ago, I wrote a post enumerating a few things I would do if I had more time. Back then, I was 100% focused on work and launching a startup. Six months later, I’ve learned that maintaining balance is critical to happiness. Work and success are great, but a life without fun, family, friends, etc. sucks. I started to make room for simple pleasures, starting with taking a full day off per week, and it made a huge difference. Today, I revisited my ”wishlist” and was pretty pleased to see that I was actually in a position to cross off a few items.

We Must Save Ourselves from Ourselves

the situation in cote d’ivoire is making so angry and sad. humans are turning into monsters. innocent civilians are being killed daily. people are being butchered and burned live. as my friend souley saddy said, all lives are not created equal in the eyes of the international community. poor countries don’t matter unless the western world has vested interests (ie oil, diamonds). funny that the US was quick to intervene in lybia. oh wait… they have oil. meanwhile, they watched the tutsi population get decimated in rwanda.
i’m really sick of watching history repeat itself. it’s time that we Africans to take control of our destiny. we can’t continue to expect industrialized nations to solve our problems. question to the heads of state: what’s impressive about being the president of war-ravaged country, all in the name of pride? instead of further destroying our countries, wouldn’t you rather build sustainable economies, invest in education and leave a great legacy behind? gosh, what will it take for these guys to start acting in the interest of the people and stop acting like barbarians for a change?

On homogeneity...
There’s something about homogeneity that makes me feel ill at ease. For as long as I can remember, my social circles have been akin to UN meetups, with people from everywhere. Quite frankly, I don’t think I could survive inside a group that is too local or too white or too black or too straight or too conservative or even too liberal, etc…
The world abounds with too many exciting people for me to limit my exposure to one type.
